02Before / after

The part nobody photographs.

Same driveway, same stone terraces, one summer apart.

Start your project
The same hillside elevation before the addition — a blank stucco gable end above the stacked-stone terraces, with no porch or deck
Before
The same addition finished — timber-framed gable porch, cable railing, painted stair and stacked-stone terraces planted out
After
Mother-in-law suite added above the garage.
03Selected work

Recent projects.

Foundations, framing, finish carpentry and everything between — photographed on the job, not staged.

Covered porch addition framed onto an existing brick ranch — timber posts, new rafters and fresh roof sheathing over the terrace
Addition
Covered deck under construction — stained tongue-and-groove soffit and exposed rafters above a subfloor still being laid, out over a wooded slope
Exterior finishing
Modern white stone estate with paver driveway being laid by the crew
Hardscape
Finished covered porch with cedar posts, flagstone walkway and established lawn
Outdoor living
New-construction shell framed out — roof trusses being set over house-wrapped walls, with the crew van parked on the graded drive
New construction
Concrete pump truck placing a poured foundation wall on a new build

04Method

No surprises, by design.

Most construction complaints come down to one thing: nobody told the owner what was happening.

  1. 01

    Walkthrough

We meet you on site, look at the real conditions, and talk through what you actually want. No sales pitch, no pressure.

  2. 02

    Scope & estimate

A written, itemized estimate. You see where every dollar goes, what is an allowance, and what could move once walls are open.

  3. 03

    Schedule & permits

We pull permits, book inspections and lock the trade calendar before demolition starts, so the job does not stall waiting on somebody.

  4. 04

    Build

One point of contact throughout. Weekly progress updates with photos, and a clean site at the end of every day.

  5. 05

    Punch & handover

We walk it with you, write the punch list, and finish it. Warranty paperwork, manuals and lien releases handed over at close.

What owners say.

“They took a dated ranch and turned the whole back of it into the part of the house we actually live in. The schedule they gave us at the start is the schedule we got.”

HomeownerPorch addition & exterior remodel, Fairview

“A supply line let go upstairs while we were away. They had equipment running the same evening and handled the adjuster paperwork end to end.”

HomeownerWater damage restoration, Asheville

“Straight answers on cost, and they flagged the things that would bite us later instead of burying them in an allowance.”

06Questions

Answers, up front.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. JT Good Construction holds North Carolina general contractor license #110012 and carries full general liability and workers' compensation coverage. We are also IICRC certified for water and fire restoration. Certificates are available on request before any work begins.

What areas do you serve?

We work throughout Western North Carolina, including Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain, Weaverville, Arden, Fletcher, Fairview, Waynesville, Brevard and Mills River. We also hold the NASCLA Accredited Examination for Commercial General Building Contractors, which lets us license in participating states — so for larger projects we can travel well beyond that radius. If you are outside it, call and ask.

How quickly can you respond to water or fire damage?

Emergency water and fire calls are answered 24/7 and we aim to be on site the same day. Fast extraction and drying is what keeps a small loss from becoming a structural one, so do not wait until business hours to call.

Do you work with insurance companies?

Regularly. We document moisture readings, damage and scope in the format adjusters expect, and we will meet your adjuster on site. We work for you, not the carrier, but clear documentation is what gets a claim approved without a fight.

How much does a remodel cost?

It depends entirely on scope, finishes and what we find once things are open. Rather than quote a meaningless range, we do a free walkthrough and give you a written itemized estimate, so you can see exactly what drives the number and adjust before committing.

How long will my project take?

A bathroom is typically three to five weeks, a kitchen six to ten, a full custom home nine to fourteen months. You get a real schedule with your estimate, and weekly updates against it once we start.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. All of our workmanship is warranted, and manufacturer warranties on materials and appliances are passed through to you with documentation at handover.
